Rock en español es la música rock compuesta e interpretada en castellano. A diferencia del rock en inglés, el rock en español ha logrado tener éxito mundial en pocas ocasiones, y muchas veces ni siquiera entre países de habla hispana. Por eso el rock en castellano se ha desarrollado de manera heterogénea en las distintas naciones hispanohablantes; quedando así la música de muchas bandas para uso casi exclusivamente nacional hasta la llegada de la globalización de contenidos multimedia acentuada por la generalización de internet y desarrollada especialmente en el siglo XXI.
Es una banda estadounidense de indie rock experimental formada en el año 2001 en Nueva York, concretamente en Brooklyn. El proyecto musical fue iniciado como un dúo compuesto por el cantante Tunde Adebimpe y David Andrew Sitek. Ambos son artistas diversos. Los dos se dedican a la pintura y Sitek, licenciado en cinematográfia, al cine de animación y a la producción musical, habiendo producido las grabaciones de los Yeah Yeah Yeahs. El dúo, con la ayuda puntual de Jason Sitek, hermano de David, en la batería, comenzó su andadura grabando un EP que llevaba por título “The Young Liars” (2003), en el cual realizaban una versión de los Pixies, “Mr. Grieves”.
En el EP colaboraban Katrina Ford de los Jaks, Aaron Hemphill de los Liards, y Nick Zinner y Brian Chase, de los Yeah Yeah Yeahs.En el 2002 lanzarían su primer demo titulado Ok Calculator alusivo al álbum de Radiohead, Ok Computer Poco después se unió a la pareja el guitarrista Kyp Malone, quien tocó ya cuando TV on the Radio telonearon a The Fall. "Desperate youth, blood thirsty babes" (2004) es su primer y único álbum de estudio bajo el sello Headgear Studio.
