Rock en español es la música rock compuesta e interpretada en castellano. A diferencia del rock en inglés, el rock en español ha logrado tener éxito mundial en pocas ocasiones, y muchas veces ni siquiera entre países de habla hispana. Por eso el rock en castellano se ha desarrollado de manera heterogénea en las distintas naciones hispanohablantes; quedando así la música de muchas bandas para uso casi exclusivamente nacional hasta la llegada de la globalización de contenidos multimedia acentuada por la generalización de internet y desarrollada especialmente en el siglo XXI.
Murder by Death (Inicialmente conocido como Little Joe Gould) es una banda proveniente de Bloomington, Indiana. El nombre de la banda deriva de la película de 1976 del director Robert Moore llamada de la misma forma. La banda desempeña un amplio estilo musical incluyendo Rock Instrumental y Country Alternativo.
Proponen un estilo musical bastante propio, donde destaca el uso del Violonchelo Eléctrico para crear un sonido gótico y sureño con referencias al Viejo Oeste, siendo este denso e intrigante con una serie de letras oscuras e irónicas, que recuerdan el humor de Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds con una fuerza narrativa similar a la de The Decemberists o de alguna novela de Nathaniel Hawthorne. Recientemente han incorporado a Scott Brackett ex-miembro de Okkervil River como quinto miembro.
