La música pop (del inglés pop music, contracción de popular music) es un género de música popular que tuvo su origen a finales de los años 1950 como una derivación del tradicional pop, en combinación con otros géneros musicales que estaban de moda en aquel momento. Los términos música pop y música popular se usan a menudo de manera indistinta, aunque el segundo tiene un sentido más amplio al dar cabida a otros géneros distintos del pop que se consideren populares.
Cornershop son una banda británica de indie formada en Leicester en 1992 por el nacido en Wolverhampton Tjinder Singh (cantante, compositor y dholaki), su hermano Avtar Singh (bajo, voz), David Chambers (batería) y Ben Ayres (guitarra, teclados y tamboura). Los tres primeros habían sido miembros de la banda de Preston General Havoc, que había publicado un single ("Fast Jaspal EP") en 1991. El nombre de la banda se originó de un estereotipo sobre los asiáticos británicos, que dice que siempre tienen tiendas en todas las esquinas (corner = esquina, shop = tienda). Su música es una fusión de música india, indie rock británico y dance electrónico.
