El termino K-pop surge por el movimiento de la cultura joven y (K) de Korean (Coreano en ingles); en resumen es la abreviatura de Korean Pop o Pop Coreano. Es un género de música que tuvo sus orígenes especialmente en Corea del Sur ya que prácticamente no hay una industria de música popular en Corea del Norte. Ya que Corea del Norte tiene un estricto régimen de gobierno comunista, por lo que las relaciones con Corea del Sur son muy pocas, así que cuando se habla de cantantes coreanos se da como sobrentendido que se habla de Corea del Sur.
Existen dos exponentes con este nombre. Uno pertenece a 쇼콜라 («Chocolat» - que significa «Chocolate» en francés) está compuesto por cinco mujeres con una edad media de 18,6. Es un grupo de Corea del Sur producida por PARAMOUNT MUSIC. Los nombres de los miembros son Jae-Yoon, Juliane, Tia, y Melanie. Es el primer grupo de chicas Bi-racial en Corea del Sur. «Bi-racial» significa que algunos de sus miembros son de ascendencia mixta, tres de los miembros tienen padres Estadounidenses y madres de Corea.
Las chicas debutaron con su primer sencillo digital, «Syndrome», el 17 de agosto de 2011.
