El hip hop es un género musical que incluye golpes rítmicos que acompañan a una voz principal que rapea. Este es un género musical muy popular y uno de los principales componentes de lo que es considerado como la cultura hip hop. Muchos espectáculos instrumentales en los que se presentan DJs sin apoyo vocal, también son abarcados bajo el género de la música hip hop. Esto se ha vuelto más popular dado que las técnicas de mezclado y sampleo (o muestreo) han madurado en los últimos años.
Cameron Jibril Thomaz (8 de septiembre, 1987), más conocido como Wiz Khalifa, es un rapero de Estados Unidos nacido en Pittsburgh, Pensilvania. Realizó su debut con el album Show and Prove, en 2006, lo que le llevó a firmar por la Warner Bros. Wiz Khalifa lanzó su segundo álbum Deal or No Deal, en Noviembre de 2009. Su nuevo álbum, Rolling Papers, fue lanzado el 29 de marzo de 2011 bajo el sello Atlantic Records. Tras las exitosas ventas de este último, el 4 de Diciembre de 2012 lanzó a la venta el que hasta ahora es su ultimo disco O.N.I.F.C. (Only Niggas In First Class) también bajo la firma de Atlantic Records. A la espera de la fecha de lanzamiento oficial, Cameron lanzará próximamente su nuevo disco llamado Blacc Hollywood en el presente año de nuevo bajo el sello de Atlantic Records.

También es conocido por escribir, producir e interpretar "See you Again" junto a Charlie Puth, la cual alcanzó un gran éxito y aunque más tarde sería superada, consiguió en 2017 ser la canción con más visitas de YouTube y actualmente tiene más de 5 000 millones de visitas en la plataforma nombrada anteriormente..
Su nombre artístico proviene de la palabra "Khalifa" que significa "sucesor" y la palabra sabiduría (Wisdom en inglés). Esto se debe a que su abuela era musulmana y de pequeño solía llamarle "Young wiz" debido a que le consideraba muy inteligente. Es por eso que también se le conoce como Young Khalifa.
