El hip hop es un género musical que incluye golpes rítmicos que acompañan a una voz principal que rapea. Este es un género musical muy popular y uno de los principales componentes de lo que es considerado como la cultura hip hop. Muchos espectáculos instrumentales en los que se presentan DJs sin apoyo vocal, también son abarcados bajo el género de la música hip hop. Esto se ha vuelto más popular dado que las técnicas de mezclado y sampleo (o muestreo) han madurado en los últimos años.
Sean Paul Ryan Francis Henriques ( 8 de enero de 1973 - Kingston, Jamaica), más conocido como Sean Paul, es un cantante de reggae y dancehall jamaiquino. Su padre tiene ascendencia sefardí y portuguesa, su madre, afrocaribeña y china. Desde su niñez se dedicó a la natación convirtiendosé en nadador olímpico antes de dedicarse a la música.
En 1997, Paul graba en combinación con Spanner Banner en las listas jamaiquinas “Ladies Man”, a través de Sweet Angel Productions. El hit resultó en que se involucrara en sesiones con Jeremy Harding, un productor poco conocido que ardía en la escena con su producción del hit de Beenie Man, "Who Am I". El productor lanzó el dancehall favorito “Baby Girl”, que fue seguido por la más exitosa, “Infiltrate”. El último éxito que junto la combinación del hit del cantante de los listados jamaiquinos.
