El hip hop es un género musical que incluye golpes rítmicos que acompañan a una voz principal que rapea. Este es un género musical muy popular y uno de los principales componentes de lo que es considerado como la cultura hip hop. Muchos espectáculos instrumentales en los que se presentan DJs sin apoyo vocal, también son abarcados bajo el género de la música hip hop. Esto se ha vuelto más popular dado que las técnicas de mezclado y sampleo (o muestreo) han madurado en los últimos años.
Karim Kharbouch (nacido el 9 de noviembre de 1984), más conocido por su nombre artístico French Montana, es un cantante de hip hop marroquí-estadounidense. Nacido en Marruecos, emigró a los Estados Unidos con su familia cuando tenía 13 años. Es el fundador de Coke Boys Records y su antecesor, Cocaine City Records. En 2012, firmó un acuerdo de grabación con Bad Boy Records y Maybach Music Group.
Kharbouch lanzó su primer mixtape en 2007 y lanzó su álbum debut, Excuse My French, el 21 de mayo de 2013. En 2003, sobrevivió a un disparo en la cabeza.
