El hip hop es un género musical que incluye golpes rítmicos que acompañan a una voz principal que rapea. Este es un género musical muy popular y uno de los principales componentes de lo que es considerado como la cultura hip hop. Marshall Bruce Mathers III (St Joseph, Misuri, 17 de octubre de 1972), conocido por su nombre artístico Eminem (estilizado EMINƎM) y también por su álter ego Slim Shady, es un rapero, productor discográfico y actor estadounidense. Su nombre artístico proviene de la unión de las iniciales de Marshall Mathers: M&M («Em and Em», estilizándose como Eminem).
Eminem es el artista con más ventas de la década de 2000 en los Estados Unidos. A lo largo de su carrera, ha colocado 10 álbumes en el número uno en el listado del Billboard 200 y cinco singles en el número uno del conteo Billboard Hot 100. Con más de 47.4 millones de álbumes y 107.5 millones de singles vendidos en los Estados Unidos y 220 millones de discos en todo el mundo es uno de los cantantes con más ventas de la historia y es constantemente citado como uno de los artistas más grandes e influyentes en cualquier género. Es el único artista que tiene nueve álbumes que debutan consecutivamente en el número uno en el Billboard 200.
